BOGANDÉ – A recent initiative by the NGO OCADES Caritas International SED Fada has provided vital support to vulnerable individuals in Bogandé, Burkina Faso, through the distribution of animals for breeding purposes.
According to Burkina Information Agency, On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, around a hundred beneficiaries, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable people from the commune of Bogandé, received goats to kickstart small-scale breeding activities. Each recipient was given two goats and a goat, marking the beginning of their breeding endeavors.
Salifou Nadjoari, a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, explained that the EA20 2023 project, under which this distribution falls, aims to reduce vulnerability and enhance the resilience of impoverished households, especially those affected by the ongoing security crisis.
To ensure the success of these new breeders, technical breeding services provided training on effective breeding techniques. Trainer Tadjoa Tankoano emphasized the importance of appropriate infrastructure, selecting healthy animals, maintaining a quality diet, adhering to vaccination schedules, and ensuring proper hygiene in breeding spaces.
The capacity-building session was instrumental in deepening the beneficiaries’ understanding of livestock farming. Beneficiary Guitanga Mariam and others expressed their gratitude to OCADES Caritas for the support and pledged to make the most of this opportunity.
