Otjiwarongo: Cooler Kaeka, the coach of Otjiwarongo-based Life Fighters FC, has delivered a strong statement to their rivals, Okakarara Young Warriors, ahead of their match on Saturday at Mokati Stadium, declaring that all points will stay in Otjiwarongo. The two teams will clash in a heated derby match in the second round of the North West First Division Football League, with both sides eager to reclaim their spot in the Namibia Premier Football League after being relegated last season.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Kaeka informed Nampa on Thursday that Life Fighters are prepared to gather all the points in a match where pride and title ambitions will be at stake. "Life Fighters is prepared for the game. All our players are fit so we cannot afford to lose this game, we will fight for this title regardless of our opponent's prowess," he said.
Kahirona, as Life Fighters are also known, experienced their first loss of the season against OYW during their final match of the first round, suffering a 1-0 defeat. However, Kaeka said they have to work on past errors and ensure that they come out on top and eventually claim the title. "Our aim from the start of the season was to return to the topflight league, our players know this and are highly motivated, so Saturday's game against our adversary is a must win," added Kaeka.
Okakarara Young Warriors share similar aspirations. Emil Katjimune, the team's coach, informed Nampa that they do not intend to remain in the first division for an extended period. A victory against Life Fighters would elevate their chances of competing for the title. Currently, Life Fighters lead the standings with 22 points, five points ahead of Okakarara Young Warriors, who are in third place.
"We want to return to the premier league, the players are hungry for the three points, they are mentally and physically fit," he said. Katjimune noted that it will not be any easy game as both teams aim for the crucial three points.
Saturday will also see relegation-threatened Young Chiefs battling Khuse Lions. Eleven Warriors will play Ongwediva City with Ongulumbashe Diamonds set to host Onambula United, while African Motto confronts Golden Bigs. Outjo Football Academy will host Golden Bees in an all-Kunene affair.
