PARIS — Manuel Bompard, the national coordinator of La France Insoumise (LFI), has urged French citizens to take to the streets this Saturday to protest against the newly appointed government and the policies of President Emmanuel Macron. Bompard’s call to action was published on his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he criticized the new administration, referring to it as “the biggest scam of the 5th Republic.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, the recently appointed Prime Minister Michel Barnier, a former European Commissioner and French Foreign Minister, has proposed a government comprising 38 ministers, including 16 full ministers. Bompard’s opposition reflects broader dissatisfaction with the government’s formation, which followed consultations with political factions earlier this month. Franceinfo has reported that the full composition of the new government is expected to be officially presented by the end of the week.
