Léraba Students Learn About Thomas Sankara Through Civic Education Film Screening

Léraba: On the anniversary of the assassination of Burkina Faso’s former president, Thomas Sankara, students at Doctor Seydou Traoré provincial high school in Sindou participated in a civic education session through the screening of a film about his life on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The event, spearheaded by the provincial director in charge of Culture of Léraba, Abdoul Convolgo, was part of a broader initiative to instill patriotism and civic responsibility in the next generation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aligns with the directives from Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, emphasizing the importance of cultivating a sense of national pride and integrity among the youth. “The aim is to encourage them to adopt civic and patriotic behavior that is so sought after in the country,” he stated.

The session was facilitated by Hamadou Sanou, who expressed satisfaction with the students’ engagement and curiosity, evidenced through their active participation and the insig
htful questions raised during the event. Aminata Sawadogo, representing the students, described the session as “truly moving and very rich in civic education,” underscoring the impact of such initiatives on Burkina Faso’s young population.
