SINDOU — On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, the Support Fund for Vocational Training and Apprenticeship (FAFPA), in collaboration with the Grace Divine Faso Danfani Plus Association (AGDFD-Plus), distributed complete loom and dyeing kits to 20 internally displaced women in Léraba, following their completion of a vocational training program. The distribution ceremony, led by the High Commissioner of Léraba Province, Mahamadi Congo, marked the culmination of a three-week training initiative aimed at empowering vulnerable women and young girls through the promotion of local craftsmanship.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the training, which ran from July 18 to August 7, 2024, equipped participants with fundamental skills in small loom dyeing and weaving. This initiative is part of a broader effort to assist women in vulnerable situations by providing them with the tools and knowledge to achieve self-sufficiency and contribute to the local economy. The program was financially supported by FAFPA and was executed in partnership with the provincial directorate in charge of Humanitarian Action in Léraba.

High Commissioner Mahamadi Congo expressed his support for the project and praised the efforts of AGDFD-Plus and the trainees. Gnissira Bado/Traoré, president of AGDFD-Plus, took the opportunity to call for continued support for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the region.

Ousmane Ouédraogo, the provincial director in charge of Humanitarian Action, emphasized the importance of the practical application of the skills and equipment provided. He encouraged the new graduates to engage with the Support Fund for Women's Income-generating Activities (FAARF) to further enhance their projects.

Guidalo Tingueri, head of the Cascades regional branch of FAFPA, assured that the support structure would remain available to aid the community in professional and continuing education, promising ongoing follow-up and support for the beneficiaries to ensure they maximize the training received.
