SINDOU, LÉRABA – On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, the High Commissioner of Léraba Province, Mahamadi Congo, inaugurated the 10th edition of the environmental holiday camp designed to educate young people about environmental conservation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Provincial Director in charge of the Environment, the camp has been an annual initiative since 2015, aimed at sensitizing youth to environmental issues and equipping them with practical skills to protect and restore their surroundings. This year’s activities kicked off in Sindou, where over 200 students will engage in a month-long learning experience.

The campers will be introduced to a variety of environmental topics, including the utilization and transformation of non-timber forest products like soumbala, shea butter, and teedo juice into usable items such as soap. Additionally, they will learn about setting up and managing nutritious gardens and effective waste management in their immediate environments. The program also includes educational and tourist outings to enhance their practical learning experience.
