SINDOU — The Léraba Child Protection Network (RPE) conducted its first General Assembly of 2024 on Thursday, June 13, focusing on enhancing child protection measures in the region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the RPE was established in September 2023 in partnership with UNICEF. This first assembly gathered its 25 members to evaluate the network’s performance and strategize for the future. The assessment of the 2023 activities showed that the RPE managed to fully complete three of the nine planned initiatives, with two others reaching 75% completion, another two at 50%, and two not initiated at all, culminating in an overall achievement rate of 61.11%.
The primary challenge highlighted was the lack of financial partners, which significantly hindered the execution of the planned activities. The members issued an urgent appeal for support to finance the revised action plan for 2024, which aims to bolster the services and protection offered to children in Léraba. The assembly also reviewed the performance of the provincial directorate responsible for Social Action, focusing on its initiatives for children throughout the past year.
