Léo Commune Holds First Extraordinary Session to Discuss Key Urban Development Plans

LÉO, (AIB) - Kassoum Koalaga, president of the special delegation of the urban commune of Léo, chaired the first extraordinary session of 2024 on Thursday, focusing on significant developmental topics for the commune.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the secretary general of Léo town hall, the session addressed four critical subjects, including the renewal of Léo's municipal development plan (PCD), which expired in 2022. Discussions also covered the adoption of the municipal sustainable development and development master plan (SDADDC), opening of professional competitions, and the creation of an ad hoc commission to monitor the PCD's development. The municipality has received financial and technical assistance from the Reed+ project through the general management of local authorities for the PCD's development.

Further deliberations led to decisions on professional competitions supported by the national agency to support the development of local authorities (ADCT), which has provided 100 scholarships for the training of municipal agents at ENAM. Additionally, the session resulted in the authorization to establish an ad hoc committee to oversee the ongoing development of the municipal development plan.

During the session, Henri Damiba, the representative of the provincial director responsible for secondary education in Sissili, and Abdramane Nignan, head of the basic education district in Léo (CCB), shared the results of the primary, post-primary, and secondary examinations. President Koalaga highlighted the successful outcomes, praising the efforts of students and teachers. He acknowledged their contributions, which led to the commendation of Léo as the second cleanest city in Burkina Faso, bringing in a prize of more than 3 million FCFA.
