Learning Paralyzed As Bandits Attack, Kill Man

Learning was on Wednesday afternoon disrupted at Yatya primary school after a banditry attack that left a 58 year old man dead and an unknown number of goats stolen in Yatya village, Saimo Soi ward, Baringo North sub-County.
The deceased, Kendagor Chelimo, a farmer, was gunned down during the afternoon attack while in his farm and nothing stolen since he did not have any sheep and goats targeted to be stolen by the bandits.
Confirming the incident, Yatya primary school Head Teacher Joseph Kaptum said the school would be closed indefinitely as fears of more attacks loom since the criminals were still at large.
‘There were over 40 bandits who went on a shooting spree and pupils in my school were forced to lie down in their classrooms floor fearing for their lives. We want the government to restore peace and order since we are living in fear,’ Kaptum said.
Kaptum has expressed fears that learners would miss school and urged the government to restore peace saying forceful disarmament was the only way out.
Richard Chepchomei, a resident businessman, condemned the attack noting that they were at a burial ceremony of three other residents killed by bandits in the past week.
