Ol Jabet: The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wa, has announced a strategic shift for leaders supporting the government, prioritizing development issues over political rivalry with the opposition. Ichung’wa emphasized that the government-aligned leaders would concentrate on communicating development achievements of the Kenya Kwanza administration to the public.

According to Kenya News Agency, Ichung’wa made these remarks during an empowerment fundraiser in Ol Jabet town, Marmanet sub-county, Laikipia County. The event was organized by the area Woman Representative, Jane Kagiri, to support several self-help groups in Laikipia West.

Kagiri highlighted the challenges faced by Members of Parliament last year, stating that decisions had to be made about staying aligned with the government to ensure continued development support for their constituencies. She expressed her commitment to supporting the government to address issues such as human-wildlife conflict, infrastructure development, and utility expansion in Laikipia.

Nominated MP Sabina Chege urged parents to guide their children respectfully, citing an incident in Migori where the president was disrespected. She emphasized the importance of respecting the head of state as a unifying figure. Chege also encouraged the people of Laikipia to avoid engaging in negative politics.

Kiambu Woman Rep. Ann Wamuratha addressed the efforts of government-supporting MPs to counter misinformation spread by the opposition. She encouraged constituents to participate in government initiatives like SHA and university education, advocating for proactive engagement with these programs.

Ichung’wa announced donations totaling Sh4 million, including a contribution from President Ruto, while MPs Wachira Karani, Sabina Chege, Wamuratha, and Kagiri each donated Sh200,000 to the fundraiser.
