Solenzo: The High Commissioner of Banwa Province, Sanfi©nal© Joseph Sirima, initiated Operation ‘Faso Barra’ in Solenzo, drawing participation from several hundred people. The initiative aims to address the potholes and ravines on regional road No. 24 connecting Solenzo to Koundougou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, on the morning of Saturday, May 10, 2025, a diverse group of participants, including women, men, and young people, gathered on the Solenzo-Kouka-Koundougou road. Their actions demonstrated a strong sense of community and commitment to Banwa province.
The operation began with High Commissioner Sirima using a shovel, marking the start of the road rehabilitation effort while awaiting further assistance from the Ministry of Infrastructure. Volunteers worked together, some collecting materials from the bush and others using tricycles to distribute the earth and stones on the road.
Transport companies in Solenzo supported the effort by halting their services to aid in transporting volunteers to various points along the road, reinforcing community efforts along the RR24 axis. Areas that had become waterlogged were effectively filled with stones.
High Commissioner Sirima emphasized the importance of collective action, stating, “We travel this road every day, and today we must unite to carry out some of the work ourselves while waiting for the State to come and help us. When we see this mobilization, we can say that all of Solenzo came out for a single cause: that of the road, which is our common road.”
The community’s dedication was evident as they worked tirelessly, overcoming challenges such as bogged-down vehicles. The ongoing work led to significant improvements in the road’s condition over several kilometers.
Work paused around noon, with the High Commissioner announcing that Operation Faso Barra will continue every Saturday morning until the road is fully repaired.
