Luau: Construction work on the Luau municipality solar photovoltaic park in the province of Moxico Leste, with a capacity of 32.20 megawatts (MWp), is nearing completion, with the inauguration scheduled for April 2026. The infrastructure, installed on an area of 61 hectares, with around 55,000 solar panels, has a storage capacity of 79.77 megawatts per hour in batteries to supply electricity to more than 100,000 inhabitants 24 hours a day.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the implementation of the project will also save 12,493,600 litres of fuel per year, avoiding the emission of 47,656 tonnes of CO2 per year into the atmosphere. In this context, the project has already begun to make the first 20,000 household connections from medium and low voltage lines.
The Luau solar park is part of the Angolan Government's project to electrify 60 rural locations in the east of the country.
