Kourittenga: The Lagem-Taaba Association for Development (ALD) of Boangtenga organized the 4th edition of its 72-hour event at the public primary school of Boangtenga in the commune of Koup©la. The event, held from Thursday, August 14 to Saturday, August 16, 2025, focused on the theme: “Promoting social cohesion for sustainable development”.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event successfully brought together the local community and neighboring villages, emphasizing unity and cooperation. Activities included training 40 women in soap making, an inter-village football tournament, a health visit to women, a plant donation operation followed by reforestation, and rewarding the best students and teachers. Artistic performances added a festive atmosphere to the gathering.
The event culminated in a day of reunion known as “Bayir-daar©”, attended by administrative, customary, and religious authorities. On behalf of the Association, prizes were awarded to 12 students and 3 teachers, while certificates of recognition were presented to 2 sponsors. Additionally, 10 bags of rice were donated to internally displaced students, and football teams received prizes.
El Hadj Seydou Ou©draogo, the event’s sponsor, emphasized the importance of social cohesion for sustainable development and pledged ongoing support for the initiative. He encouraged young people to continue their efforts towards achieving the event’s objectives.
Gaston Yameogo, president of the Lagem-Taaba Association for Development, highlighted the main goal of the event as strengthening social cohesion among the community. He expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting the successful mobilization of participants.
Fernand Ndo, Secretary General of Kourittenga Province, representing the High Commissioner, praised the initiative and its alignment with national government objectives. He commended the Association for its contributions to local progress and unity.
The event not only united the host community but also served as a platform for gathering and fraternity among neighboring villages, underscoring the power of unity in building a common future.
