La Voix du Paysan TV Launches in Ouahigouya, Marking Regional First

Ouahigouya: The Northern Region of Burkina Faso celebrated a significant milestone with the official launch of La Voix du Paysan TV, the first community television channel in the area. The inauguration, led by Governor Issouf Ouédraogo, coincided with the 7th edition of the days of homage to Dr. Bernard Lédéa Ouédraogo, organized by the National Federation of Naam Groups.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event, held from October 23 to 25, 2024, commemorated the life and work of Dr. Bernard Lédéa Ouédraogo, a prominent figure in the promotion of rural well-being. Dr. Ouédraogo was known for establishing the radio station La Voix du Paysan in 1996 to support farming communities through effective communication initiatives. The launch of La Voix du Paysan TV extends his legacy by providing a new platform for the dissemination of information pertinent to rural development.

Dr. Ouédraogo’s mission. He stated that the creation of the television station fulfills a long-held dream of its founder and pledged to uphold the ideals that guided Dr. Ouédraogo’s life work in advocating for the peasant community.

Governor Issouf Ouédraogo highlighted the significance of the new channel in promoting social cohesion and regional unity. He commended all parties involved in its establishment and urged the journalists and staff to maintain high standards of professionalism to ensure that the channel contributes positively to nation-building.

La Voix du Paysan TV was commissioned in December 2023 and is now accessible on the TNT Bouquet, Channel 30, Frequency 546 MHz, UHF Band. The channel, which operates under the slogan “the television of the rural world,” aims to provide content that reflects and supports the interests of Burkina Faso’s rural population.
