Kunene: The office of the Kunene Governor has extended an invitation to entrepreneurs interested in establishing retail businesses in rural areas, encouraging them to register for support through Kunene Capital.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Alpha Uzera, a senior official from the governor's office, emphasized that the initiative aims to bolster rural economies. "Sixty-five per cent of Kunene residents live in rural areas and they travel long distances to towns to purchase groceries," Uzera explained.

Uzera further outlined the support available to interested entrepreneurs, which includes stock and necessary equipment to help them establish independent businesses. This support is facilitated through Kunene Capital, a catalyst fund designed to assist budding entrepreneurs in starting their ventures. "The catalyst fund brings relief to rural populations by bringing services closer to their communities," Uzera added. The five-year pilot initiative plans to support eight to 12 small retail businesses.

The invitation is extended to both new and established entrepreneurs, offering them an opportunity to contribute to the development of rural areas in Kunene.
