The high commissioner of the Kourwéogo province, Siaka Barro installed on Monday October 9, 2023 in Boussé, the new provincial director of water and sanitation, Sébastien Dramane Koncolé, in his position.
The new Provincial Director (DP) of water and sanitation, Sébastien Dramane Koncolé officially took office on Monday October 9, 2023 in Boussé, capital of the Kourwéogo province, in the Central Plateau region.
The handover ceremony took place in the meeting room, in the presence of local bodies.
Mr. Koncolé replaces the outgoing director, Banou Lamien, in this position, after more than 17 years of service in the province.
To this end, the speakers praised the professionalism of Mr. Lamien during his stay at the head of the provincial water and sanitation directorate.
For staff representative, Brahima Ouédraogo, the outgoing DP is a man of principle, a worker and concerned with the success of assigned missions.
A senior agricultural technician by training, Mr. Lamien arrived in Kourwéogo in 2006, as
head of the water and sanitation department, at the provincial directorate of agriculture and hydraulics, before be appointed head of the new management in 2017.
Banou Lamien expressed his gratitude to his hierarchy for the support he received throughout his stay in the Kourwéogo province.
In terms of assessment, he highlighted several achievements and awareness-raising actions carried out as part of strengthening the coverage of the province, in terms of availability of drinking water, sanitation devices
The outgoing DP also specified the establishment of community management structures for resources and facilities.
For the projects in progress, he cited, among others, the Niou dam which would be in the completion phase, the building to house the management headquarters, the conveyance works of the town of Boussé from the dam of Dourou in the Passoré province, the effectiveness of which is planned for July 2024.
According to Banou Lamien, the results achieved by his management are to the credit of all p
artners, his collaborators and the beneficiary communities.
He also expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders while asking them to remain equally available to support his successor.
For his part, the new DP Sébastien Dramane Koncolé, for his part, thanked the transition authorities for the choice made on him to lead this mission.
‘The water and sanitation sector is at the heart of the socio-economic development of our nation,’ he maintained.
Mr. Koncolé says he is aware of the immensity of the task that awaits him and is committed to working more, so that the province can achieve an adequate rate of access to drinking water and sanitation at the horizon of 2030.
He requested the support of administrative, customary, religious authorities and partners to meet the multiple challenges, but also those of the moment, namely ‘Water for all and the end of open defecation’.

The first official of the Kourwéogo province reassured the new DP Mr. Koncolé of the availability of the administration to support him in the implementation of activities in the area.
