Boussé: The Tind Yalgré Association (ATY) rewarded around fifty actors in the agro-sylvo-pastoral fields during the 18th edition of the Kourwéogo producers’ days, held on November 30, 2024, under the chairmanship of the high commissioner of the Kourweogo province, Siaka Barro. The event, which lasted 72 hours, focused on the theme “Agro-sylvo-pastoral development in a context of security challenges, what endogenous strategies for sustainable production.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was sponsored by Moustapha Souili, CEO of the Wendwaoga Nabonswendé Company, and traditional practitioner Rasmané Ouédraogo, with financial support from the NGO ‘Solidar Suisse.’ The producers showcased their harvests from the wet season, highlighting the success of their efforts in the agro-sylvo-pastoral fields.
The Kourwéogo producers’ days featured communications on the event’s theme, exhibitions, sales of livestock, cereals, vegetables, and both raw and processed non-timber forest products. Performance
s by artists also marked the occasion. Winners were awarded agricultural equipment and financial envelopes to aid their continued agricultural endeavors.
Mahamadi G. Sawadogo, president of the Tind Yalgré Association, expressed that the event aimed to enhance the visibility of agricultural activities, assess farmer performance in production techniques, and foster business opportunities. He noted satisfaction with the groups’ agricultural performance, highlighting that some had even tripled their harvests due to favorable rainfall and technical support.
High Commissioner Siaka Barro emphasized the relevance of the chosen theme, aligning it with national goals to address security issues and achieve food sovereignty. He highlighted the 2023-2025 agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive as a testament to these aspirations.
Moustapha Souili, on behalf of the sponsors, contributed motorcycle pumps to five women’s groups, supporting the association’s vision to enhance agricultural profitability. He urged young peopl
e to leverage available resources for economic success, reducing the need for risky ventures elsewhere.
The event concluded with board games and plans for a follow-up meeting in 2025, underscoring the ongoing commitment to agricultural development in the region.
