Kourwéogo: International Youth Day celebrated under the sign of resilience in Bousé

The youth of the province of Kourwéogo celebrated on Saturday August 12, 2023, the international youth day whose discussions focused on various themes relating to resilience in rural areas, in a context of difficult security crisis in the Burkina Faso.

Started on August 1, the celebration of the 2023 edition of the International Youth Day was marked in Boussé and Laye (Kourwéogo) by several activities of common interest.

This day placed under the sponsorship of the president of the association Tind Yalgré (ATY), El hadj Madi G Sawadogo was punctuated by training sessions, awareness of sports activities and tree planting.

The closing of the event took place at the youth center under the chairmanship of Issiaka Ganametoré, president of the special delegation of the commune of Boussé.

On this occasion, the participants, made up of representatives of youth associations and opinion leaders from the province, discussed the strengthening of the employability of young people living in rural areas and the fight against insecurity in Burkina Faso.

Addressing his godchildren, El hadj Sawadogo was delighted with the exchanges with the youth on the opportunities of the rural environment, in terms of self-employment.

According to him, the conception of agriculture as an activity intended solely to ensure the family’s food is over.

“Agriculture has now become a factor of wealth production, which can ensure financial independence for those who invest in it,” he argued.

According to him, no one needs large areas to undertake, because he explains that only with half a hectare, it is possible to obtain an income of one million F FCFA in one season.

According to him, it is necessary to have, among other things, knowledge of agricultural and market gardening techniques, market demands and rigorous financial management to succeed in the field.

To this end, Mr. Sawadogo made an offer to support agricultural entrepreneurship for the benefit of youth.

Those interested must have a land area of at least half a hectare and make a choice of production relating to okra, sesame, pepper and potato.

They were invited to come and fill out a form available at the association’s headquarters in Boussé.

The health attaché in mental health, Seydou Coulibaly discussed with the assistance on addictive behavior.

For Mr. Coulibaly, the consumption of drugs and other adulterated alcohols exposes young people to psychiatric pathologies and addiction that can lead the individual to commit reprehensible acts.

Addressing the presidential initiative, the provincial director in charge of youth, Seydou Bruno Ouédraogo, presented to the participants the “referent-opportunity-insertion”.

Mr. Ouédraogo said that this initiative stems from the government’s desire to get closer to young people living in rural areas.
