Kourittenga: The High Commissioner of Kourittenga Province, Moctar Ilboudo, presided over the first annual civil-military cross-country race of the year in Koupela. The event mobilized key figures in the province, including the security forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). This initiative reflects a desire to revitalize local life while celebrating civic engagement.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the inaugural edition of the civil-military cross-country race aimed to enhance local life and promote civic involvement. Moctar Ilboudo emphasized the importance of collaboration between security forces and civilians, stating, “If there is good and frank collaboration between the security forces and civilians, then we will be stronger against the enemy.”
The event’s primary goal was to strengthen ties between the armed forces and civilian populations. The High Commissioner commended the bravery of the FDS and VDP and encouraged the population to remain resilient. He noted that the race facilitates interaction and fosters closer relationships, which is crucial for effective collaboration.
Ilboudo highlighted that the race is a component of the broader fight against the ‘black winter,’ a challenge acknowledged by the Head of State. He recalled the thwarted events of January 3rd as evidence of this reality and stressed the importance of unity and support for security forces to mitigate its impact.
He urged the people of Kourittenga to participate actively in this monthly event, held every first Thursday, to solidify connections between civilians and defense forces.
