Kourittenga Hosts Cultural Day, Celebrates Education through Local Arts

KOUPELA – The Kourittenga province celebrated a cultural day emphasizing education and traditional arts on Thursday, chaired by the High Commissioner Aissata Angelina Traoré. This event featured competitions among 11 basic education districts, showcasing traditional dance, recital, and modern ballet.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Provincial Director in charge of Primary Education who organized the event, the aim was to foster a comprehensive educational experience that integrates cultural practices. The competitions were held to promote and preserve Burkinabè culture through educational activities, reinforcing the role of culture as the foundation of both individual and societal identity.

The district of Andemtenga excelled in traditional dance, scoring an average of 13.66/20, while Koupéla 2 achieved a score of 15/20 in modern ballet, and Pouytenga 2 won the recital category with 14.33/20. Djibril Abdoul Moustapha Ilboudo, a school director from Andemtenga, expressed satisfaction with his district’s performance, highlighting the importance of perseverance and dedication in achieving educational goals.

The Provincial Director in charge of Culture, Amédée Wend-La-Sida Silga, praised the event, noting the importance of cultural activities in supplementing formal education and preserving national heritage. He emphasized that such initiatives are crucial for imparting cultural values to the younger generations.

The event concluded with the High Commissioner lauding the efforts to integrate culture with education, aligning with the political agenda to promote national identity and authenticity. She underscored that cultural activities are not only educational but also essential for the cultural perpetuation within the community.
