Kourittenga: The High Commissioner of the Kourittenga province, Moctar Ilboudo, invited all populations to be truly involved in the promotion of heritage during the official launch of the 3rd edition of the Burkinabe Heritage Month in Koup©la.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch event took place at the High Commission and was attended by various provincial bodies. The theme for this year was “Cultural Heritage and Economic Development,” and it included a flag-raising ceremony. Moctar Ilboudo conveyed a message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, emphasizing the importance of traditional and customary leaders and urging active participation in heritage promotion.
The Razaag-Naaba, representing His Majesty Naaba Yemd© the Kourit-Yir-Soaba, expressed gratitude to the government for organizing the heritage month. He highlighted the event as a means to pass on cultural values to the younger generation, stating that returning to cultural values is crucial for national development.
He acknowledged that while cultures vary, it is essential to discern and choose beneficial cultural practices. He expressed concern over the lack of education on cultural values, which he believes contributes to the decline of the younger generation. His Majesty’s representative, Naaba Yemd© of Koup©la, emphasized that Cultural Heritage Month allows Burkina Faso to display its rich cultural heritage.
