Kourittenga: The High Commissioner of Kourittenga Province, Moctar Ilboudo, presided over the first monthly flag-raising ceremony of the year in Koupela on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The event was attended by administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as civil society organizations and development partners. Ilboudo commended the bravery of the armed forces who dedicate themselves to the nation’s prosperity and security.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Ilboudo emphasized the importance of raising the flag as a moment to affirm patriotism and national pride. He urged reflection on republican values and commitment to the development of Burkina Faso. The High Commissioner highlighted efforts marked by creativity and selflessness, leading to satisfactory achievements and results.
Ilboudo encouraged provincial stakeholders to intensify their efforts to collectively address the challenges of 2026. He praised the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland for their relentless work in maintaining national security.
The High Commissioner also acknowledged the honorary distinctions awarded in 2025 to various individuals and organizations in the province, spanning public and private sectors, projects, NGOs, associations, and customary and religious authorities. He himself was elevated to the rank of Knight of the Order of Merit for Administration and Labor, dedicating this honor to the people of Kourittenga.
Ilboudo congratulated all award recipients, emphasizing that every contribution to the province’s development is recognized and rewarded by the Nation. He urged local stakeholders to redouble their efforts and uphold respect for national symbols, expressing hope for the return of peace to Burkina Faso.
