Kourittenga: The High Commissioner of Kourittenga Province, Moctar Ilboudo, presided over the traditional raising of the national flag at the Koupela Detention and Correction Center (MAC) on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He urged the population to embrace the ideals of the manifesto to strengthen social cohesion and the development of the province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the flag-raising ceremony was attended by the constituted bodies, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) as well as local actors from the Kourittenga province. The Chief Inspector of Prison Security, Boureima Nikiema, presented the prison institution and welcomed the guests. He emphasized the fundamental mission of the Penitentiary Security Guard (GSP) in ensuring the custody, surveillance, and social reintegration of prisoners, in compliance with human rights and applicable laws.

The deputy prosecutor at the High Court of Koupela, Ousmane Tiendrebeogo, outlined the main directions of the new criminal policy. He highlighted the impact of alternative measures to prosecution, which have significantly reduced overcrowding at the Koupela Detention and Correction Center. "The number of residents has decreased from 180 to 103," said Ousmane Tiendrebeogo, stressing that these alternatives, such as criminal mediation, criminal composition, community service, or non-custodial sanctions, contribute to better reintegration of the people concerned while reducing prison overcrowding.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of the "living human treasure" and special awards from the province for the National Culture Week (SNC) Bobo 2026, by the provincial director in charge of Culture of Kourittenga, Loukmane Badolo.

High Commissioner Moctar Ilboudo presented the manifesto of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) and praised the strong mobilization of participants and their civic engagement, particularly through their contribution to the Faso Mªbo initiative. He invited the population to embrace the ideals of the manifesto, aiming to strengthen social cohesion and the development of the province.

This raising of the colors at the MAC of Koupela served as a framework for exchanges and awareness-raising, highlighting the joint efforts of the judicial and administrative authorities for a more effective, humane, and reintegration-oriented justice system.
