Kourittenga: The hill of Daltenga, located in the commune of Yargo, Kourittenga province, was the site of the diocesan pilgrimage Mass of the Archdiocese of Koup©la. This significant event, held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, emphasized unity and fraternity. The Mass was officiated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Koup©la, Archbishop Gabriel Sayaogo, alongside Archbishop Olivier de Germay from the Diocese of Lyon.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the pilgrimage Mass was attended by priests, nuns, administrative authorities, and a fraternal delegation from Lyon. Its main objective was to express gratitude for 125 years of evangelization in Koup©la and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the twinning between the dioceses of Koup©la and Lyon.
Archbishop Olivier de Germay of Lyon remarked, "Christ calls us to walk the path of the Gospel, to live in unity, and above all, to work actively, through faith, to build peace within the communities in which we live."
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Koup©la, Mgr. Gabriel Sayaogo, emphasized the importance of daily forgiveness and faith in his message, stating, "We must live with forgiveness every day, work to banish all behavior that distances us from Christ, and remain in faith so that together we can build a world of peace."
This year's pilgrimage follows the previous one held on January 21, 2024, on the same hill, which marked the conclusion of the lay year.
