Kourittenga/City Round Battle Show: Kourita High School Triumphs at the 5th Edition

Koupéla: The "Pensons aux autres" (Let's Think of Others) Association of Kourittenga organized the 5th edition of the inter-school competition called "City Round Battle Show" on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Koupéla. Kourita High School took first place with a total of 109.65 points, for an average of 15.66. According to Burkina Information Agency, this cultural and educational event, called "City Round Battle Show," brought together seven secondary schools from the province around several artistic and intellectual disciplines. Among the schools in contention were Collège de l'Avenir, Lycée Kourita, Lycée de Koupéla, Lycée Génocratique Salga Silver, Lycée Saint Philippe, Lycée Saint Édouard, and Lycée Saint François de Salle. The participants competed in seven disciplines, namely exceptional talent, the parade, the compulsory ballet, the ballet of choice, slam poetry, the interpretation of a Burkinabè artist, and the geographical presentation of the high schools in the Mooré language. Following the various presen tations, five establishments were selected to be rewarded. Kourita High School distinguished itself in particular by taking first place with a total of 109.65 points, an average of 15.66, a performance praised by the public and the jury members. The jury president, Apollinaire Belemkoabga, congratulated all the candidates for the quality of their performances. 'We witnessed a very high level of competition. The students demonstrated real artistic and intellectual potential. This is an encouraging sign for the future of culture in our region,' he said. Georgette Zoungrana, the team leader at Kourita High School, said she was satisfied. 'We are very proud of our students who have demonstrated discipline, creativity, and commitment. This victory is the result of collective work and rigorous preparation,' said Mr. Zoungrana. The president of the Association Pensons aux autres, Aimé Gabin Compaoré, praised the mobilization of the establishments and the commitment of the students. "The goal of this competition i s to reveal the hidden talents of our children and to prepare a strong next generation in the cultural field. We want to encourage artistic expression and promote our local identities," he said. The awards ceremony for this 5th edition of the "City Round Battle Show" is scheduled for a later date, according to the organizers.
