Kourittenga: The Alumni Association of the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary of Baskour (AASB) organized the third edition of its reunion on August 1 and 2, 2026, in Baskour©, under the theme "Former Seminarians of Baskour©: United by our roots and committed to the future." This gathering brought together former seminarians from various locations in Burkina Faso in a spirit of fraternity, solidarity, and commitment to their former institution.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the first day was marked by several civic and convivial activities. Participants planted 200 seedlings, including 100 fruit trees, installed seven solar streetlights, before sharing a community meal. Sporting activities and a cultural evening also helped to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the members of the association.
The president of the Association of Former Students of the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary of Baskour (AASB), D©ni Dawend©, was delighted by the strong mobilization of former seminarians. For him, this reunion provides a privileged setting to strengthen relations between members and to transmit values to rising generations. 'Our ambition is to bring together all former seminarians around the ideals that were passed on to us at the Minor Seminary. We want to maintain strong ties between us, support our younger brothers in their journey, and contribute, each according to his means, to the development of our seminary,' he said. D©ni Dawend© invited all those who were unable to attend this year to join the AASB family at future editions.
Sponsor of this third edition, Joachim Bagyan, former student of the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary of Baskour©, praised the initiative which he considers a duty towards the institution which contributed to his education. 'Sponsoring this event is a way for me to show my appreciation to the Minor Seminary. We have a duty to support the development of our former home and to encourage our younger brothers to persevere in their studies and human development,' added Mr. Bagyan.
Father Paul B©r©, former student of the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary of Baskour and dean of the Faculty of Biblical Sciences (Biblicum) of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, congratulated the organizers for this initiative which helps to keep the spirit of fraternity alive. 'A community that cherishes its memory builds a solid future. This initiative is a fine example of fidelity to our roots and responsibility towards future generations. Continue to cultivate this unity, support the seminary and take concrete actions in service of human and spiritual development,' he maintained.
Throughout these reunions, the fraternal atmosphere, the warm exchanges and the active participation of the members illustrated the values of unity, solidarity, and love of neighbor which characterize the Alumni Association of the Saint Augustine Minor Seminary of Baskour©. This third edition thus confirms the desire of the former seminarians to remain united by their roots and resolutely committed to the future of their institution.
