Kourittenga: The Youth in Motion Association (AJeM) organized the final of the 11th edition of the Women's Maracana Tournament (MAFAJeM) on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Koup©la. The tournament's theme was "Sport, Health, and Artificial Intelligence: MAFAJeM 11, a Catalyst for Women's Leadership in the Digital Age." This edition brought together administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as members of the public who came to support the young women. The Koup©la Municipal High School team won the final 2-0.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the final of the 11th edition of the Maracana women's tournament (MAFAJeM) pitted the team from the Gounghin departmental high school against the team from the Koup©la municipal high school in a match rich in intensity and commitment. Played in two 20-minute periods, the confrontation kept spectators on the edge of their seats from the very first minutes.
Highly determined, the players from the Koup©la municipal high school quickly gained the upper hand over their opponents. Thanks to a beautiful collective action, Djamila Diallo opened the scoring in the first period, thus giving her team the advantage. A few minutes before the break, Madeleine Guiendega increased the score by scoring the second goal.
Upon returning from the locker room, the players from the Gounghin departmental high school launched numerous attacks in the hope of getting back into the game. Despite several attempts and intense pressure on the opposing defense, they failed to find the back of the net.
The score of 2 goals to 0 remained unchanged until the final whistle of the referee. Visibly moved after this victory, the captain of the Koup©la municipal high school, Lynda Victoria Belemkoabga, praised the efforts of her entire team. "This victory is the result of hard work, discipline and solidarity among us. We are proud to have represented our school and thank everyone who supported us," she said.
The winning team left with a cash prize of 50,000 CFA francs, a set of jerseys, a ball and the trophy. One of the three godmothers of this 11th edition, Fatimata Ou©draogo/Yam©ogo, congratulated the different teams for their commitment and sportsmanship. "Sport is a means of personal development and leadership for women. I encourage my younger sisters to persevere in their studies and ambitions," she said.
For the president of the Youth in Motion Association, Alain D©sir© Zoungrana, this initiative aims above all to promote female leadership through sport. According to him, MAFAJeM provides a framework for expression, development and empowerment of young girls. "Our fight is for the empowerment of girls and women. Through this activity, we want to offer young girls an opportunity to develop their self-confidence and talents," he explained.
This 11th edition of MAFAJeM ended in a festive atmosphere marked by the presentation of awards to the participating teams and the best players of the tournament.
