Ouagadougou: Stakeholders in the criminal justice system within the jurisdiction of the Koup©la High Court (TGI) initiated a crucial consultation framework meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Koup©la Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Organized with financial support from the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation (Enabel), the meeting will continue until July 23, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this session brings together various actors in the criminal justice system within the jurisdiction of the Koup©la High Court to discuss difficulties encountered in implementing reforms in the criminal justice sector and propose concerted solutions to improve its functioning. Several presentations will be given over the three days, focusing on gender-based violence in the jurisdiction, road incivility, criminal policy, and group work followed by feedback on the quality of investigations, considered essential for the effectiveness of criminal justice.

Nar© Kibsa Salam, president of the Koglweogo of the commune of Baskour©, expressed approval of the meeting's initiatives. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness among the population to fight against all forms of violence and contribute to strengthening peace in Burkina Faso.

Check Alpha Abdoul Aziz Compaor©, the investigating judge at the High Court of Koup©la, highlighted the importance of collaboration among all actors in the criminal justice system. He noted that justice involves various stakeholders before reaching the courts, and the meeting is expected to enhance this collaboration.

Parfait Sandwidi, deputy public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Fada N'Gourma, remarked on the significance of the consultation framework. He stated that it provides an opportunity for sharing expectations, strengthening coordination, and exchanging best practices, despite challenges such as limited resources. Despite these constraints, Sandwidi emphasized the resilience shown by utilizing available means to achieve satisfactory results.
