Koupèla Health Facility Recognized as Top Performer in Local Health District

Koupèla, Burkina Faso – The Nakalbo CSPS was awarded the title of the best health and social promotion center in the Koupèla health district during the second edition of the district’s week of excellence. The event took place on June 1, 2024, and recognized the contributions of more than ten health facilities and services under the theme “Insecurity and health challenges.”

According to Burkina Information Agency, Aissata Angelina Traoré, who presided over the ceremony, the Nakalbo CSPS received a financial reward of 100,000 CFA francs, medical technical equipment, and a certificate for their exemplary service over the past year. The ceremony, attended by local dignitaries including His Majesty Naaba Yemdé le Kourit-Yir-Soaba and provincial and regional directors, highlighted the efforts of health workers in the region.

Silamane Kafando, the major of the CSPS of Nakalbo, expressed his gratitude and motivation to continue striving for excellence in future editions. Additionally, the ophthalmology unit of the Medical Center with surgical antenna (CMA) of Koupèla received the first prize for best unit within the CMA, including a financial package of 80,000 CFA francs and medical-technical equipment.

The sponsor of the event, El Hadj Lezogo, emphasized the critical importance of addressing health and security challenges collaboratively. Dr. Cheik Omar Sawadogo, the Chief Medical Officer of the health district, also highlighted the success of the event and called for continued improvements in local health services, including the strengthening of qualified personnel and the renovation of critical units such as emergency services.

The High Commissioner, Traoré, praised the ongoing efforts and urged the community to support the initiatives aimed at improving health care in the province.
