Kouka Delegation Visits Local Farmers to Assess Agricultural Progress

BANWA, KOUKA — A special delegation from the commune of Kouka, situated approximately 45 km from Solenzo, conducted a field visit on Saturday, August 17, to support local farmers and directly engage with agricultural producers in the area.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special Kouka delegation, the purpose of the visit was to monitor the progress of agricultural activities and observe the effects of initiatives aimed at achieving food self-sufficiency. This initiative, launched by the President of Faso, has been effectively implemented in Kouka, with the commune cultivating 5 hectares of corn and 30 hectares of rice. Ilboudo highlighted the current phase of the agricultural process, noting the application of fertilizers as critical to enhancing crop health and optimizing yields.

He projected that the commune expects to harvest 25 to 30 tonnes of corn and 150 tonnes of rice by the end of the agricultural season. Ilboudo also mentioned that the relatively stable security conditions in Kouka have been conducive to initiating and continuing farming operations without significant disruptions.
