Koudougou: The Secretary General of the Nando region, Lucien Guengu©r©, representing the Governor, presided over the official launch of the first phase of the 3rd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) in Koudougou, focusing on food sovereignty.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the traditional flag-raising ceremony at the Koudougou governorate square marked the beginning of the initial two weeks of JEPPC 2026 in the Nando region. The event is themed "Food sovereignty and economic patriotism: together, let us cultivate our dignity through local production and consumption," aiming to instill patriotism in the consumption habits of the Burkinabe population.
Delivering the Head of State Captain Ibrahim Traor©'s message, Lucien Guengu©r© emphasized the importance of economic and food independence in the struggle for national liberation. He urged citizens to adopt local eating habits, stressing that food should be a tool of sovereignty and pride.
The message encouraged the populace to abandon "imperialist eating habits" that undermine national producers, advocating for a shift towards making "buying local" a routine practice in various sectors including administrations, schools, and households.
The first phase of JEPPC is scheduled from March 26 to April 9, 2026. Various activities are planned in the Nando region to engage citizens, including clean-up days and blood donation campaigns in Koudougou and Ziro province, thematic conferences on civic engagement, and interactive radio programs aimed at schools and the public.
JEPPC, established to enhance patriotic consciousness, aims to foster voluntary participation in the development and defense of the nation.
