Koudougou: The prefecture of Koudougou hosted on Monday the monthly ceremony of raising the national colors, placed under the sign of the celebration of the second anniversary of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), in the presence of the vital forces of the Nando region around the ideals of sovereignty.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this solemn ceremony was marked by a welcome address from the prefect of the department, Am©d©e Par©, who praised the strong turnout of the various institutions and the local population. "The flag is, par excellence, the most visible and representative symbol of a country in the international community," the department's top administrative official reminded everyone.
Comrade Par© seized this opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the people of Koudougou to republican values, while explaining the local responsibilities entrusted to the prefecture, a true extension of state authority. The highlight of this flag-raising ceremony was the reading of the message from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, by the Secretary General of the Nando region, Lucien Guenguer©.
In his message, President Traor© stressed that the creation of the AES on July 6, 2024, symbolizes "the hope for an African renaissance" and an unwavering determination to build a common destiny based on solidarity and sovereignty. Faced with security challenges and multifaceted economic and media pressures, the Head of State called on the Sahelian populations to redouble their vigilance and work ethic. "Our security and prosperity are shared," he emphasized, urging citizens to embrace the Confederation's Year 2 roadmap.
The message also emphasized the need to process Sahelian resources locally to ensure the well-being of the population. Captain Ibrahim Traor© reiterated the Confederation's commitment to continuing responsible dialogue with its neighbors, while emphasizing that the sovereignty and dignity of the Sahelian states remain non-negotiable principles.
Note that before the reading of the Head of State's message, the assembly observed a minute of silence in memory of Captain Aboubacar Compaor©, commander of the Koudougou gendarmerie squadron, and deputy regional coordinator of Faso Mªbo Nando, who fell on the field of honor on July 4, 2026, in Gorgadji.
The ceremony ended in an atmosphere of patriotic fervor, with key figures reiterating their commitment to work alongside the authorities to consolidate a Sahel of peace, sovereignty and shared prosperity.
