Koudougou: More Than 900 Young Catholics Commit to an Exemplary Faith

Koudougou: The Saint Augustine Cathedral in Koudougou hosted, from March 13 to 15, 2026, the provincial pilgrimage of young people committed to an exemplary faith, AIB noted. Coming from four dioceses, they were urged to be role models in society during the closing Mass presided over by Bishop Alexandre Yikyi Bazie.

According to Burkina Information Agency, more than 900 delegates from the dioceses of Ouagadougou, Ouahigouya, Manga, and the host city of Koudougou converged on the city of the Red Rider for this major spiritual gathering of the ecclesiastical province of Ouagadougou. For seventy-two hours, the pilgrims and their guides alternated between teaching sessions, moments of reflection and fraternal activities.

The gathering was placed under the sign of personal commitment, with the theme: "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to all" (1 Timothy 4:12). During the closing Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, March 15, the celebrant, Bishop Alexandre Yikyi Bazie, focused his homily on the responsibility of young people in the face of contemporary challenges. He earnestly invited the faithful to "walk in the light of Christ" while warning them against the "fleeting illusions of the world" that could lead young people astray from their values.

For the organizers, this pilgrimage was a success both in terms of the turnout and the quality of the discussions. The participants, now "strengthened in their faith," have already made plans to return for the next edition, scheduled for three years from now.
