Koudougou Commune Distributes 18 Tons of Food to Vulnerable Citizens

KOUDOUGOU: In a significant demonstration of solidarity, the commune of Koudougou distributed 18 tons of food and 3,600,000 CFA francs to vulnerable citizens as part of the national days of patriotic commitment. The event, held on October 24, 2024, focused on supporting individuals in difficult situations, including widows, orphans, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and students displaced within the region. According to Burkina Information Agency, the day of solidarity took place at Koudougou town hall and was attended by prominent figures such as Minister of State Bassolma Bazié, Brigadier General Pingrenoma Zagré, and regional authorities from the Centre-West. Jonas Mané, president of the special delegation of the commune, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the National Days of Patriotic Commitment, underscoring Koudougou's ongoing efforts to support its growing population of vulnerable residents. Mané expressed gratitude to donors whose contributions made the event possible, including 12 tons of rice, 6 tons of corn, 150 boxes of pasta, 120 cans of cooking oil, 100 boxes of soap, and the financial sum. These resources were distributed to beneficiaries, who expressed their appreciation through spokesperson Charlotte Konaté/Toé, acknowledging the generous acts that provided much-needed relief. Public utility organizations also benefited from the aid, such as the YIK NKIENIN Rehabilitation Center, PROMACEL, the Koudougou Detention and Correction Center, and the Laafi health mutual. Notably, these groups received specific financial support, with 500,000 CFA francs allocated to the health mutual and 600,000 CFA francs to cover health insurance for internally displaced students at Norbert Zongo University. The event's sponsors, Emmanuel Tapsoba and Marc Zongo, vowed continued support for initiatives reflecting the patriotic spirit of Burkinabè citizens. Minister of State Bazié lauded the commune's efforts, encouraging other regions to adopt similar measures and calling on the nation to unite in overco ming current challenges. His remarks concluded with a hopeful vision for peace and development in Burkina Faso.
