Koubri Residents Mobilize for Gutter Cleanup to Enhance Sanitation and Health

KOUBRI — The special delegation from the commune of Koubri led a significant gutter cleaning initiative on Saturday, coupled with a public awareness campaign on the importance of sanitation for improving community health.



According to Burkina Information Agency, President of the special delegation of Koubri, the effort saw broad participation from the locals who recognize the direct impact of environmental cleanliness on their well-being. The event was marked by the clearing of severely blocked rainwater ditches, which had been obscured by sand, soil, and debris. This sanitation activity not only aimed to unblock these channels but also to prevent waterborne diseases like dengue and malaria by ensuring proper rainwater flow towards the local dam.



Léonard Gougou noted that this cleaning operation is a part of a larger presidential initiative aimed at fostering endogenous development. The activity was well attended by residents from all 26 villages of Koubri, demonstrating a strong community response. Kokoro Kobori, the Kadiogo provincial infrastructure director, emphasized the importance of regular maintenance and informed residents about future plans to construct more durable concrete gutters.



Sibiri Compaoré, president of the town hall’s sanitation commission, announced that the cleaning drives would continue and additional efforts would be made to educate the community on maintaining cleanliness. He encouraged all Koubri residents to engage in ongoing sanitation efforts to build social cohesion within the community.



Local resident Martin Kaboré expressed his appreciation for the special delegation’s proactive stance in addressing health risks and flood prevention through these cleaning activities.



The special delegation has designated every first Saturday of the month for community-wide sanitation activities to maintain momentum in their efforts towards a cleaner and healthier Koubri.
