Koubri Commune Rallies Against Illegal Land Development

KOUBRI — The rural commune of Koubri, in collaboration with the National Office for Development and Construction Control, hosted an awareness meeting on Tuesday to inform residents about the dangers and legal repercussions of illegal land division by fraudulent real estate developers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President of the special delegation (PDS) of Koubri, the meeting aimed to empower the local population, particularly the active community members, to combat unauthorized land development and subdivision within the commune. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in curbing illegal land sales and ensuring adherence to national laws.

The event, which saw a full turnout at the village hall of the old town hall, addressed the community’s role in preventing illicit land transactions. Mr. Gougou highlighted the ongoing issue of anarchic installations near tracks and announced the planned removal of illegally placed terminals and anarchically installed shops, particularly those attached to electrical poles, scheduled for August 19, 2024.

Abdoulaye Koné, Head of the regional branch of the National Office for Development and Construction Control in the Center region, detailed the office’s responsibilities and advised residents on the necessary precautions for development and construction operations.

The initiative is part of a broader awareness campaign that started in the commune of Saaba last week and will continue to other rural communes of the capital. The residents of Koubri expressed their appreciation for the meeting, which clarified several issues with the municipal authorities, and suggested that the town hall should conduct further awareness campaigns before taking any coercive actions.
