Nouna: The president of the special delegation of the commune of Nouna, Souleymane Tiono, presided over the delivery of food kits worth 100 million CFA francs, benefiting 800 vulnerable households.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was supported by the NGO CARE and its implementing partner Wu Pakuw©, a farmers’ association, with funding from the Regional Humanitarian Fund for West and Central Africa (FHRAOC). The aid targeted vulnerable groups, including internally displaced persons and host families.

The distribution of food kits was guided by specific criteria developed in collaboration with the provincial directorate of humanitarian action, as stated by Inoussa Kiemd©, head of the Multi-Sectoral and Integrated Response to Humanitarian Needs project in Boucle du Mouhoun. Each household received a kit containing 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of corn, 20 kg of beans, 2 kg of salt, and 3 liters of oil.

The distribution was executed in three phases, each maintaining the same composition of kits. However, due to logistical constraints, the ceremony was conducted in two phases, with each household receiving two kits based on their needs and vulnerability. During the event, Souleymane Tiono expressed gratitude to the donors for their continuous support and urged beneficiaries to share and demonstrate solidarity.

This project encompasses three main components: food security and livelihoods, protection from gender-based violence (GBV), and health and nutrition.
