Koro School Garden Enhances Student Canteen and Promotes Local Produce

Koro: The Koro bilingual public primary school, through its school garden, has committed to improving the student canteen and promoting local consumption, in accordance with the guidelines of the department in charge of education, AIB has observed.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the school garden at the Koro Bilingual Public Primary School is a tangible reality and a source of satisfaction for both the school administration and the students. Under the leadership of the school administration and the school council, the school has developed an agricultural area that meets the expectations of the educational authorities.

This initiative is part of a national movement to promote and develop locally grown food in school gardens and fields. Within the designated area, students, school council members, and teachers have been actively cultivating and maintaining primarily green onions and tomatoes since the start of the school year, with the harvests used to supply the school canteen.

"Despite the difficulties and the precariousness of resources, the educational community of the Koro bilingual public primary school is determined to ensure the success of innovations in the school environment," says the school's director, Idrissa Banda.
