KOMONDJARI — A significant vaccination catch-up campaign, named ‘Big Catch’, is currently underway in Komondjari province, targeting over 4,000 children between the ages of 24 to 59 months, aiming to update their vaccinations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, The campaign, which started on July 12 and will run until July 18, 2024, was kicked off with an advocacy meeting in the Gayéri health district’s large meeting room. This initiative, spearheaded by the High Commissioner of Komondjari province, is designed to mobilize local leaders to promote the success of the campaign within their communities. The campaign’s focus is on reaching children who have missed vaccinations or are not up to date with their immunization schedules. Vaccinators will employ multiple strategies for reaching children, including door-to-door visits, sessions at places of worship, Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) sites, and fixed sites like fields, markets, and health centers. According to campaign officials, this effort is crucial for strengthening the immunity of children against vaccine-preventable diseases, thereby reducing morbidity and mortality associated with infectious diseases.
