Komondjari: The High Commissioner of the Komondjari province, Valentin Gnanou, has called for religious tolerance and social cohesion in the region. This appeal was made during a collective gathering at the great mosque of sector 2 on Saturday, March 29, 2025, which aimed at bringing together various religious denominations in a show of unity.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative saw participation from members of all communities and religious groups, highlighting the region's commitment to social cohesion, unity, and fraternity. High Commissioner Gnanou emphasized the importance of revaluing values such as coexistence, tolerance, love, and acceptance, which he believes are diminishing and need reinforcement.
The Friday Imam of Gay©ri, Mahamadi Sawadogo, expressed his hope that this gathering would lay the groundwork for genuine social cohesion, fraternity, and religious tolerance. He called on the community to unite and pray for peace across families, provinces, and Burkina Faso as a whole.
Yempabou Haro, pastor of the EE/SIM church in Sector 3 of Gay©ri, echoed these sentiments, stating that the meeting enhances social cohesion and the community's capacity to live together peacefully. He expressed a prayerful wish that this initiative would continue among all religious communities in the province, fostering peace in the country.
