Komondjari High Commissioner Takes On Teaching Role to Address Teacher Shortage

Komondjari: The High Commissioner of the province of Komondjari, Valentin Gnanou, is giving mathematics lessons to a 4th grade class at the Gayeri municipal high school, to address the shortage of teachers in this area with a high security challenge.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Valentin Gnanou, passionate about teaching and aware of the challenges related to educational continuity, regularly provides these courses while waiting for the assignment of permanent teachers to this functional secondary school. This initiative is welcomed by the local educational community, which sees it as a strong act of resilience and leadership in the service of national education.

According to Mr. Babongou Pascal, a mathematics teacher at the provincial high school in Gayeri, this action by the province's top administrative official goes beyond the symbolic. "The High Commissioner is not simply carrying out a one-off act." This year, he is indeed teaching a 4th grade class at the local high school, while waiting for the arrival of permanent colleagues. "It's a concrete and constant commitment," he testified.

He also specified that, for the time being, the headmaster is the only permanent staff member assigned to the Gayeri municipal high school. Faced with this situation, the continuity of teaching is ensured thanks to the solidarity of the teachers of the provincial high school with the support of some health workers with pedagogical skills, who are contributing to avoid a lost year for the learners.

This collective mobilization demonstrates the determination of local stakeholders to keep the school standing despite adversity. It is part of the national dynamic of resilience in the face of insecurity, where every citizen, at their level, is called upon to contribute to safeguarding basic social services.

It is worth recalling that, in the previous school year, Mr. Valentin Gnanou was already providing occasional mathematics courses at the provincial high school in Gayeri. This year, his commitment has been strengthened by the regular teaching of a class at the municipal high school, thus confirming his deep attachment to the education and training of the youth of Komondjari.

Through this highly symbolic and practical gesture, the High Commissioner of Komondjari sends a strong message: despite security challenges, schools must remain sanctuaries and education a collective priority.
