Kombissiri: The Kombissiri Sector 1 Public Primary School established its first-ever School Council Executive Committee on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The new Executive Committee’s challenge is to contribute to improving the quality of education and teaching at the school.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the public primary school in sector 1 of the city of Kombissiri, like some other schools in the municipality, has set up the very first executive office of the School Council. This unique body for organizing, mobilizing, and engaging the educational community in the life of preschool and non-formal education institutions, as well as primary, post-primary, and secondary schools, is part of the education system reforms initiated by the highest authorities of Burkina Faso.
The School Council’s mission is to support public and private educational institutions in administrative, pedagogical, financial, cultural, social, and environmental matters. The establishment of this body at the school in sector 1 of Kombissiri was presided over by the school director Soumaila Bande, in the presence of the educational community and teachers.
The newly elected executive board of the School Council, which comprises 12 members, is chaired by Ablasse Alexis Ouedraogo. The new office will be tasked, among other things, with mobilizing the community for school activities. “Together with the entire community, we are committed to supporting teachers in order to contribute to improving the quality of education and teaching in our school,” said Mr. Ouedraogo.
The school principal congratulated the newly installed executive committee and reminded everyone that the School Council is a forum for dialogue, consultation, and decision-making to ensure the smooth running of the school. Soumaila Bande invited those present at the ceremony to get involved in the activities and support the new committee for the success of the school’s students.
The term of office for the elected members of the executive committee is three years, renewable once. The School Council replaces the parents’ associations (APE), the associations of mother educators (AME), and the management committees (COGES) of schools.
