KOMBISSIRI — On July 23, 2024, the Kombissiri health district initiated an influential gathering with local opinion leaders and media personnel to bolster support for the upcoming seasonal malaria chemoprevention campaign. This meeting aimed to enhance public endorsement and participation in a series of health initiatives slated from July 26 to 29, 2024.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the district’s chief medical officer, the session was designed to inform and engage key local figures about the critical elements and benefits of the 2024 malaria prevention campaign. The discussions focused on the specific age groups targeted by the campaign, medication administration protocols, and additional health measures like screening for acute malnutrition, destroying larval breeding sites, and administering antimalaria vaccinations.
The gathering also addressed concerns regarding the integrated health campaign, clarifying any uncertainties to ensure community leaders are well-informed and supportive. Téné Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, the High Commissioner of Bazèga province, praised the district’s proactive approach and encouraged the leaders to contribute actively to the success of the upcoming health initiatives, highlighting the community’s crucial role in combating malaria effectively.
