Kombissiri Directorate of Water and Forests Hosts Interfaith Fast-Breaking Event

Kombissiri: The Baz¨ga Provincial Directorate of Water and Forests organized a collective breaking of the fast on Monday, March 9, 2026, in Kombissiri. On this occasion, representatives of the province's institutions, the Muslim and Christian communities, and the city's security forces prayed for peace and social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Provincial Directorate of Water and Forests (DPEF) of Baz¨ga initiated the event, taking advantage of the period of Lent and Muslim fasting. The gathering was held within the DPEF premises in Kombissiri, aiming to foster fraternity and harmonious coexistence between civilian populations and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) for lasting peace.

The event was presided over by the High Commissioner of Baz¨ga, Tene Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, and was attended by numerous dignitaries, religious leaders, security forces, and representatives of the Muslim and Christian communities. Ms. Kientega commended the provincial director of water and forestry, Commandant Sanata Domo, for this initiative, highlighting its role in strengthening ties and social cohesion, as advocated by the highest authorities in the country.

The ceremony featured prayers and a shared meal. Imam Moussa Compaore of Sector 5 in Kombissiri led the Iftar prayer, praising Ms. Domo's efforts on behalf of the community. The ceremony served as an opportunity for reflection, prayer, and blessings, with collective prayers for the protection of the country's authorities, the province, and all engaged in ensuring national peace.

Mrs. Sanata Domo emphasized the significance of the event, which saw participation from around 300 individuals, including city authorities like Naba Saaga, chief of Kombissiri. She described it as an unforgettable moment of strengthening fraternity and trust between the FDS and the civilian populations.
