Kombissiri Citizens Unveil ‘Ibrahim Traoré Roundabout’ in a Gesture of Patriotic Vigilance


KOMBISSIRI — In a significant display of civic engagement and support for national transition, the Patriotic Coordination of Kombissiri (CPK) in Bazèga province, commemorated their dedication to citizen monitoring on Sunday, February 18, 2024. The event featured the distribution of food to internally displaced individuals and the unveiling of the ‘Ronde-point Ibrahim Traoré’ monument, underscoring the community’s solidarity with the broader efforts to combat terrorism in Burkina Faso.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the coordinator of CPK, the ceremony symbolized the initiation of citizen watch activities within the commune of Kombissiri. This initiative is part of a nationwide movement to support the transitional government led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, focusing on the fight against terrorism. Rouamba highlighted the significance of Traoré’s leadership in enhancing security and expressed the community’s resolve to contribute to these efforts.



The inauguration attracted a large gathering of residents, along with administrative and traditional leaders, who came together under the intense sun to partake in the day’s activities. The event served not only as a demonstration of support for the transitional government but also as a platform to promote unity and collective action against terrorism.



The CPK, also known as ‘the Wayiyans’ of Kombissiri, received endorsements from similar groups from across the country, emphasizing the event’s role in rallying national support for the transitional efforts. In addition to the civic activities, the symbolic gesture of food distribution to displaced persons prefaced the formal inauguration of the ‘Ibrahim Traoré roundabout,’ positioned prominently at the main entry of Kombissiri’s central market.
