Kombissiri: A 25 KVA Generator and 5 Tons of Rice to Strengthen Healthcare Services at the CMA

Kombissiri: The Kombissiri Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) has received a significant boost to its operational capacity following a generous donation from economic operator Abdoul Karim Compaore, known locally as "Naa Abdou." The donation, aimed at addressing frequent power outages that compromise healthcare services, includes a new 25 KVA generator, 30 mattresses, 100 cartons of bulk gloves, five air conditioners, and five tons of rice for patients.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Luc Minoungou, the Chief Medical Officer of the Kombissiri health district, highlighted that the donation was in response to a request made during Naa Abdou's visit to the CMA a week prior. Dr. Minoungou emphasized the urgent need for a working generator, as the old one was out of service, and praised the donor's prompt response, which he described as demonstrating a sense of responsibility. The new equipment is expected to ensure continuity of care, particularly during surgical procedures when power outages occur.

Representing the resource persons and traders from Bazega, Mr. Idrissa Romba commended the donor's sacrifice and underscored the crucial role of adequate equipment in healthcare. He recounted how the donation idea came about after the MCD informed the delegation of the CMA's broken generator. Mr. Romba noted that Naa Abdou immediately committed to purchasing a new generator and addressing other urgent needs, fulfilling this promise in a short time.

The strategic importance of the Kombissiri CMA, located on national road no. 5, was also highlighted by Mr. Romba. He stressed that the gesture not only benefits the Bazega region but also supports many users of this route. The donation ceremony was presided over by Ms. Tene Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, the High Commissioner of the Bazega province, who applauded the donor's act of solidarity, aligning with the President of Faso's call for citizen support of public action.

Abdoul Karim Compaore expressed his satisfaction in contributing to improving healthcare staff working conditions and the overall healthcare of the population. In recognition of his generosity, the municipal coordination of citizen vigilance, the Wayiyans, awarded him a certificate of recognition. This initiative is part of a broader national effort toward endogenous development, illustrating the critical role of citizen engagement in strengthening local health systems.
