K©n©dougou Workshop Equips Muslim Leaders with Social Cohesion Tools

Orodara: The city of Orodara hosted a training workshop from April 14 to 15, 2026, organized by the Circle of Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) for the benefit of imams and preachers, focusing on social cohesion and living together.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative is led by CERFI through its "Djama Beogo N©r©" project, which aims to strengthen the resilience of populations by promoting peace and social cohesion. The project receives technical and financial support from the Union of Religious and Customary Leaders of Burkina for the Promotion of Health and Development (URCB/SD).

The Secretary General of the K©n©dougou province, Bassanma Ko, presided over the opening ceremony, representing the High Commissioner. The training aims to enhance the capacities of Muslim religious leaders in promoting social cohesion, peace, and Islamic values conducive to communal living.

Emmanuel Konat©, President of the Special Delegation of the Urban Commune of Orodara, commended the project as timely given the national security challenges, which have weakened the social fabric. He emphasized the essential commitment of all stakeholders in restoring peace and stability, viewing the CERFI initiative as a significant contribution to reviving values like solidarity, mutual respect, and social cohesion.

Project coordinator Dr. Kadr© Sawadogo outlined the "Djama Beogo N©r©" project, noting the training's strategic focus on empowering actors capable of positively influencing grassroots communities. The sessions will emphasize social cohesion, peace culture, and combating hate speech. Dr. Sawadogo highlighted that social cohesion is built through accepting differences, dialogue, and prioritizing the common good, urging participants to become peace agents in their communities.

Bassanma Ko praised the project's focus on advocacy and capacity building for religious leaders, asserting that the initiative will help restore inter-community trust, essential for harmonious development. He encouraged participants to engage in discussions to better understand the subjects and use the knowledge to promote peace in a Burkina Faso striving for security and free from hate speech and violence.

The workshop serves as a platform for learning, experience sharing, and collective commitment to consolidating peace and communal living in K©n©dougou province and beyond.
