Kisii:A significant crackdown in Kisii town led to the recovery of 405 electronic devices suspected of being stolen from residents, as reported by the police in Kisii County. Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases detailed the findings during a press conference in the town.
According to the Kenya News Agency, the search was executed in a shop within the town where the police believed stolen second-hand electronic devices were being sold. The officers successfully secured 351 mobile phones, 20 laptops, 13 tablets, and 21 hard drives. Alongside the recovery, 14 individuals suspected of association with the thefts were taken into custody.
Kases stated that the arrested individuals would face charges based on the cybercrimes and computer misuse act of 2018 and for theft from the general public. The police are extending their investigations, suspecting the involvement of more individuals, not just from Kisii but also from neighboring counties like Migori and Nyamira.
The Police Commander had a stern warning for those involved in theft, indicating that their illicit activities would soon be halted. He also invited residents to the Kisii Central Police Station to determine if any of their lost phones were among the recovered items.
