Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County – The sale of second-generation liquor has been put under scrutiny by Kirinyaga County Commissioner Nayioma Tobiko. During Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kianyaga General Kasama Ground, Tobiko stated that the vice, once controlled, is making a resurgence in some parts of the county.
According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, the public should report anyone involved in the sale of such liquor to the security agencies. Tobiko also encouraged residents to plant more trees during the ongoing rainy season, in line with President Dr. William Ruto’s directive to plant 15 billion trees over the next ten years. The Commissioner emphasized the need for vigilance during the El Nino rains, particularly for those residing in areas prone to landslides and flooding. Kirinyaga forest conservator Peter Ng’ang’a supported these statements, revealing that the county has a target of planting seven million trees and has so far managed to plant 1.1 million.
