KICE Foundation Launches Grade 10 Sponsorships for 35 Students

Kikuyu: The Kikuyu Constituency Education (KICE) Foundation has initiated its academic sponsorship program, admitting a new group of beneficiaries to support bright but financially disadvantaged students entering Senior Secondary School (Grade 10).

According to Kenya News Agency, the foundation has enrolled 35 students after a comprehensive application, verification, and vetting process. These beneficiaries have been granted Sh 1,326,190 to cover their Term One school fees and uniforms. Additionally, the foundation's patron, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, donated 35 mattresses to the students.

The induction ceremony, which included foundation officials, alumni, and new beneficiaries, featured speeches from former beneficiaries who shared guidance on maintaining discipline and focusing on academics. Earlier, on December 20, the foundation allocated Sh1,693,975 in school fees to its existing group of 54 students for the first term of the 2026 academic year. This allocation was officiated by Board of Trustees member Mr. Matthew Gathua (Chief) and Kikuyu Constituency Office Manager Kamau wa Beth.

Preceding the disbursement, a three-day mentorship program was held where students received guidance on academic performance, career choices, and personal development. The foundation also celebrated its 2025 KCSE candidates, highlighting that 16 out of 25 students achieved university entry grades.

During the event, the foundation collaborated with the Queens Dignity Foundation, which provided menstrual and personal hygiene care packages to the students. To be eligible for the KICE Foundation sponsorship program, applicants must be bright but needy students from Kikuyu Constituency with a KJSEA aggregate score of at least 54 out of 72 points. Applications are submitted at the Kikuyu NG-CDF office, accompanied by necessary documents such as a birth certificate, guardian's identification, and KJSEA result slip. Proof of guardianship is required when applicable.

Foundation officials expressed their gratitude to the patron, Board of Trustees, partners, alumni, and benefactors for their continued support of the program.
